Do Recreational Drones Need To Be Registered
Recreational Drone Users
You must register your drone or model aircraft if information technology weighs more than 0.55 pounds. If yous are planning to fly recreationally, y'all must fly under the requirements of Part 107 or follow all the requirements of the FAA Rules for Recreational Flyers and Modeler Customs-Based Organizations. You can learn more and register your uncrewed aircraft at the FAA's registration website.
Commercial and Public Drone Users
Public, commercial and other non-model shipping UAS operators may use the online registration system. During the registration procedure, users will have to identify whether they are operating a model aircraft for recreational purposes or operating a UAS for business or government use.
Non-model aircraft will receive a unique Certificate of Aircraft Registration for each aircraft.
Operators can still continue to use the existing paper-based registration system.
